TERM EMPLOYEES

QUICK FACTS ABOUT TERM EMPLOYEE POSITIONS:
- Term Employee is a new classification of employee. This new classification of employees will be required to pay dues to the Society.
- Society Represented Term Employees are hired for a term not to exceed 5 years in duration unless the parties mutually agree to extend the period up to 10 years.
- Supervision of Term Employees will count for the purpose of determining if the Manager supervises at least 7 employees (directly or indirectly) on a regular basis.
- The Company agrees it will not exceed 250 Term Employees at any one point in time during the Term of LOU #40.
- Before any Term Employees can be placed in an MP5 or MP6 position, the Company must post the position through the internal posting and selection process for rotational opportunities under Article 65.5 of the Collective Agreement.
1. WHAT IS A TERM EMPLOYEE?

Term employee is a new classification of employee which will be separate and distinct from those found under article 3 of the Society collective agreement. Term employees will be hired for a finite amount of time and be Society represented during the term of their employment. Term employees will be covered by the provisions of the Society collective agreement except where modified under LOU 40.
2. ARE THEY MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY?
Answer
Yes. Term Employees are Society members. They have the right to participate in the union, be represented by the union, and pay union dues.
3. WHAT WILL TERM EMPLOYEES BE DOING?
Answer
Term Employees will fill non-permanent positions doing the same work as regular Society members. Their job titles and job docs will match regular Society member titles and docs. These positions are anticipated to support Life Cycle/Asset Management, and Major Component Replacement, including to backfill a regular employee assigned to MCR and or LCAM with a Term Employee.
Term Employees will not be permitted to act as a minimum compliment in the following positions, Control Room Shift Supervisor (CRSS); Authorized Health Physicist (AHP); Field Shift Operating Supervisor (FSOS); Shift Emergency Response Manager (SERM) and Shift Advisor Technical Support – Rotation (SATS-R).
4. HOW WILL THEY BE REPRESENTED?

As part of the agreement, the Company will provide the full-time release of a 5th Unit Director within 60 days of the commencement of the trial period and will be in place as long as LOU #40 is in effect. If LOU #40 is cancelled, there are provisions to provide that a 5th Unit Director will be maintained until such time where there are 50 Term Employees or less under the provisions of Article 30.
